Helping new members choose their people

Help each new member write names with real reasons, and stay close enough that they don't freeze.

Until you have 5 people on your team, stay with the regular daily. Once you have 5 people, join the Leaders edition and get both.

New members start with three names and one reason each. Your part is to help them choose people they'd genuinely enjoy, and to sharpen each reason until it's personal.

A Monday note to your team

Team note

“Morning, everyone. This week we're starting with the people we'd love to invite. Take five minutes today to write down the people you'd genuinely enjoy having in Encounter, with one specific reason for each. Send me your first name and reason if you'd like a second opinion. I'll reply to every one of you.”

Sharpen the reason

When they share a name, ask what they know about that person's life right now. A reason like "she'd love it" becomes "she's been wanting to travel with friends again since her kids left home."

Go first

Make it yours

  • What's your own first name and reason this week?
  • Where does your team usually talk?

For example: “Morning, team. Mine is Lena, because she's been asking me for months how I find time to travel. Write yours and send it to me.”
